DAI employee Kim Miller was recently nominated the Civil Air Patrol's National Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of the Year. Although Kim didn't earn the National title he did earn the Alabama Wing and also the Southeast Region PAO of the year. The Alabama Wing is comprised of 21 Squadrons and the SE Region includes the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico.

As the Squadron PAO, Kim is responsible to inform internal and external audiences of Civil Air Patrol's local and national importance, safeguard the image and assets of CAP, and strengthen relations with key audiences and customers, which enables the organization to grow.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 60,000 members nationwide, operating a fleet of 550 aircraft. CAP, in its Air Force auxiliary role, performs about 85 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Its unpaid professionals also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies.
